Diamonds and Facets

There’s a quilting blog that I absolutely love called Film In The Fridge

I got the inspiration and the know-how for my very first string quilt from the tutorial on this site. Honestly, all of the quilts Ashley makes are really incredible, but most recently I was inspired when I stumbled across her Diamonds and Facets Quilt

So… since my coworker and friend Bianca and her husband Oscar are expecting a baby girl any time now, I decided to make a similar quilt for them and their new baby.

And I’ve got to say, I am loving making all of these baby quilts. They are small and therefore come together quickly. They’re easy to quilt. Everything about them is like a dream of nearly instant gratification.

Here’s my progress so far. I was initially thinking of putting the pink in the middle, but have decided to go with the blue/green. I think it pops more.

The fabric is Soul Blossoms by Amy Butler and I have no freaking idea what I’m going to use for backing. Perhaps something clashy and crazy like leopard print… who knows. :)

WOW! This is a wonderful quilt. I love the colors and how the fabrics create so much movement. Your gift should be very appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much!! I am so obsessed with Amy Butler’s fabrics. She designs such intense and richly colored schemes.
