And So It Begins…

The unpacking, that is. I’ve gotten quite a lot unpacked and put away already (we don’t have an extreme amount of stuff) but I am really trying to meet the goal of having everything set up or assigned a place by this coming Sunday. The reason for this is:

My Mom is coming to visit Brandon and I on the fifteenth!

I am so excited!

I can’t wait to just spend some time with her and really enjoy her company in our new, not over crowded apartment and show her my life- our sober life. I haven’t gotten the backing fabric for my quilt yet (ugh), mostly because of the move, etc. But also because I have no idea what color I want the backing to be. It was suggested to me that it shouldn’t be muslin because my top is so colorful that it will probably show through…

Hmm… Red? Blue? Black?

My brain is running over with ideas.

One thing I know for sure is that since the top is so busy, I’m sticking with a solid backing… Or at least that’s what I think today. Really, who knows what I could be thinking tomorrow.

Not having my phone has been really hard- especially since I love doing my photo gratitude lists so much. However, the insurance is coming through and my new phone should be here on the seventh (YES!!). I’m really looking forward to having that convenience and outlet of expression back.

I guess I don’t have too much to say today. I’m pretty exhausted and still have a long day ahead of me, but I wanted to check in and give an update on the whole move/quilt situation.

Oh, one last thing: I know I am quilter because I unpacked and organized my stash before the I put away our glasses in the kitchen. :)

Congrats on the new place. As for putting away the fabric first – well, hey, a girl’s gotta have her priorities right?

Haha, I’m glad you have your priorities straight and your stash was taken care of first. Good luck getting the rest put away, you’ll feel great when it’s done.

I like to piece the backs of my quilts, with left over scraps from the front, or whatever I have lying around. It’s also a good place to put orphan blocks, or as is the case with my daughter’s quilt, some heart blocks I was goofing around with. I posted a picture on Flickr here:

I am free-motion quilting it right now, and hope to be done by the end of the week **fingers crossed**
